Leonie Burkhardt is a textile designer and artist based in Göteborg. She is passionate about exploring the craft of weaving and pushing its limits by using digital tools. She works at the boundary of textile and object and emphasizes textile qualities such as material compositions, rich textures, and vibrant colors. Her work process is playful and intuitive and derives from a place of curiosity.

She graduated with her BA studies in textile design at HAW Hamburg (2016-2020) and did a semester abroad at KMITL in Bangkok in 2018/19. She continued pursuing a Master's degree at the renowned Swedish School of Textiles in Borås (2020-2022). During the Master's program, she absolved a six-month internship at Kvadrat in Hamburg. As a freelance designer, she worked for Lokaldesign and Jongeriuslab. Since 2024, she has continued her experimental design research as a PhD candidate at the Swedish School of Textiles. 

Her work has been exhibited at Milan Design Week, Dutch Design Week, the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, Röhsska Museum, and the International Biennial of Crafts and Creation in Paris. She has been featured in magazines such as Schöner Wohnen, Color Hive, 1granary, and md Mag online. Leonie's graduate work was amongst others awarded with the 'One-And-Twenty Winner 2023', second place at the 'Color Prize 2023' by the Swedish Color Centrum, and the 'European Craft Prize for Applied Arts 2024'. In 2024, Leonie was the finalist in the category 'Textile and Fashion' at the German Design Award - Newcomer 2024.
